Kindred: includes all relatives of a deceased person.
Larceny: non-forceful theft.
Legal custody: the right and duty to raise a child that is usually shared by both parents.
Legal risk placement: a type of adoption that is not guaranteed. Adoptive parents "adopt" the child before the child is born and if the birth mother decides to keep the baby after birth, the adoptive parents must relent.
Lewd: any behavior that is considered offensive and indecent. Some examples include: pornography and indecent exposure.
Lex loci: "The law of the place" which means the local law.
Liability: something for which a person is liable or responsible for like debt.
Liquid assets: Company items that can be changed to cash easily and quickly.
Living will: A legal document stating the author's wishes for life-prolonging treatments and health procedures when the author is unable to communicate their wishes.
