Letter M Legal Terms

Malfeasance: committing an illegal act. This term is usually associated with a professional committing an illegal act that is disruptive in their duties.

Mediation: A method used to settle the dispute between the opposing sides outside of court in which a neutral party, the mediator, helps to find a solution that satisfies both sides.

Misdemeanor: A crime that is less severe than a felony and only punishable up to a year.

Misfeasance: When a public official conducts his work in a "technically illegal" manner.

Mistrial: A trial that ends before completion with no verdict.
